Listening to customer needs and putting one's expertise to use, the intrigue of this job comes from daily communications that leads to a rewarding answer.

Please tell us about your current role

Accounts under my care are companies that manufacture electronic components, such as semiconductors used in houses, cars, and smartphones. Our role is to manufacture the specialized blades attached to the machines that run every day in their production facilities. Cliants face countless issues at their factories every day. My job is to propose the specific blades that resolve those issues. In my previous job, I did cold-calling for new business, and it was hard just to get someone to listen. Now, I focus on consultative sales for customers who truly need our products, which makes the work very fulfilling.

How's your experience with KAMIYA been?

It’s a company where you have the freedom to have an initiative of your own. In large corporations, you might not even know the President's face, but here, the President and executives are very approachable and often come to talk to us. The distance between management and staff is very close.

What do you keep in mind when mentoring junior staff and subordinates?

Since "the power to listen" is one of KAMIYA's motto, I emphasize the importance of listening carefully to accurately understand customer needs. "Based on the customer's words, what case studies should I share, and what questions should I ask to provide the perfect blade?" I encourage them to look at things from multiple perspectives. If they can do that, their skill level will steadily rise. I lead by example, communicating with them daily to show how it's done.

A message to job seekers

Regardless of the job, having a "spirit that isn't afraid of failure" and a "mindset for growth" is essential. Would you feel fulfilled in a job where you simply walk a pre-determined path? If you're going to do it, you want a job that gives you a real sense of achievement. KAMIYA respects individuality. I changed careers from a completely different industry, but with the support around me, I was able to build my own sales ethos. Job hunting can make you cautious, but sometimes, you just have to take a bold step forward!

Days Off

On my days off, I often go golfing with colleagues. It’s a great way to build better communication through the kind of casual conversation we can't always have at the office. Playing in a green, open environment helps me relax both mentally and physically. Since I’ve always enjoyed staying active, it’s the perfect way to feel refreshed.
