Cold Saw / Cutting Process
[Reducing Blade Thickness to Improve Material Yield]

Client Challenges

・Seeking to make the blade thinner to maximize the material yield obtained from a single rod.

Our Approach

・Reducing blade thickness also requires thinning the body; however, excessive thinning can lead to lateral runout and blade deflection. To address this, we optimized body rigidity, flatness, and cutting edge geometry through repeated trial and error, ultimately delivering a product that meets the required specifications.
・In addition to improving material yield, the thinner blade reduced chip generation, decreasing the frequency of chip drum replacements. This also reduced the workload on operators, earning positive feedback from the client.
